This is an attempt to compile a complete, accurate database of Philmont waypoints for use by crews attending Philmont.  A Global Positioning Satellite receiver (GPSr)  should never take the place of a good map and compass and the knowledge of how to use them.  When the GPSr does work, it only tells you where you are, not where you are going.  When it doesn't work, it is a very expensive, heavy, useless addition to your backpack.

The Philmont waypoints on this list are in no way guaranteed to be wholly accurate.  Notes will be made on each waypoint where error may be suspected.  Please use your own mapping software to help make decisions on which waypoints to use when planning your Philmont expedition.  Then, after you have completed your Philmont expedition, please take a little time to submit your observed waypoints so others can benefit from your experience.

This list of Philmont waypoints is available for download either as an EasyGPS .loc file or a G7toWin .g7t file as well as a MS Excel spreadsheet.  Both EasyGPS and G7toWin are free downloadable programs used for waypoint management. Both programs can upload waypoints to your GPSr or download waypoints from your GPSr.  In order to take advantage of these programs, you must have the ability to hook your GPSr up to your computer via either serial or USB cable.

If you have Philmont waypoints you would like to submit, e-mail them to philmontwaypoints@philmontforum.com.  Source information is included for each waypoint.

This Excel spreadsheet file contains the entire table listed below, and all waypoints listed in DD MM SS,  DD MM.mmmm, DD.dddd, and UTM.  This file can be manipulated for mapping purposes once saved.  In order to download this file properly, right click on the file and select "Save Target As..." - then select where you want the file stored.  Be sure to save the file with the ".xls" extension.
